Merisier Ice Tea recette
After the Late Harvest organic maple syrup (2017) and the Extra Rare (2018), the Great Harvest maple syrup is now a Great Taste star awardee.
Indeed, the judges of this prestigious competition organized by the Guild of Fine Food awarded two stars to the most popular syrup of the Escuminac range recognizing its luxurious texture and its caramel notes. “Luxuriously thick, with a buttery mouthfeel that coats the palate beautifully. Taking this syrup down to this type of reduction gives the maple a new dimension of caramel sweetness that would please everyone who tries it. This isn’t a thin, purist maple syrup but it bridges the two styles beautifully and would be glorious on any breakfast.”
For the second year in a row, the judges also awarded a star to Escuminac’s Organic Limited Edition Birch Syrup. “Heady and aromatic like a good muscovado sugar, this rich syrup is only mildly sweet with a tangy acidity and quite a deeply savoury aftertaste. Could easily be used as a sweet syrup or pumped up to be a delicious umami laced marinade. The flavour is unique and if this was just a bit thicker and less acidic it would be a much more rounded and versatile product.”
“Beautiful gloss and viscosity, and a most intriguing, inviting aroma. On the palate, there’s a fascinating, pleasing meld of molasses, citrus and nut notes. Remarkable persistence of flavour, yet clean and bright. Beautifully balanced sweetness and bright zestiness. We can imagine uses in dressings, marinades, and even as a sweet(ish) syrup. Intriguing and delightful.”
